Alleviating Stress

 

Studies have shown that stress may originate in the mind and then affect the body. It’s not easy to relax when you are stressed and tense. When you are relaxed you are likely to sleep better, have more pleasant dreams, and awaken more refreshed and thus be better able to cope with the day to day challenges that life sometimes brings.
It only takes a few minutes a day to: relieve daily stress, feel more relaxed, feel less anxious, and rediscover your calm, peaceful inner self. Relaxation can also assist in avoiding high blood pressure, obesity and the entire array of health problems associate with stress. Health problems and age related diseases are rampant in our society, mainly because of poor lifestyle choices, which includes not taking time for relaxation.
Remember, your body can not function properly if you are overwhelmed with stress. We can’t always avoid stress however. In fact, sometimes we don’t want to. Often, it is controlled stress that gives us our competitive edge in performance related activities like sports, public speaking, or singing in a concert for example.  
Everyone knows about bad stress, “or distress’, but there is something called good stress or “Eustress”. Eustress is defined as a pleasant or curative stress.  The physical responses to distress and eustress are pretty much the same, but the brain processes them both quite differently. Eustress is the amount of positive energy that motivates, excites and moves you to achieve something.
Here are a few suggestions and tips that will enable you alleviate some of your stress. Try to make a commitment to practice or do anyone of the following suggestions and chances are, stress levels will begin to fall to a range where it is manageable and cause no long-term damage to health or relationships (personal or professional). Now, at the same time you should realize that only a small number of these tips may actually work for you, considering all of these suggestions may not be for everyone.
